Prebuilt packages for Linux systems

Please note: UGENE is a part of Ubuntu and Fedora linux distributions.

It means that we post links to binaries which are built on official Ubuntu or Fedora servers.
It brings several prons to our users:

  • Ability to install binaries (not always latest) using package managers:
    sudo apt-get install ugene or sudo yum install ugene
  • Numerous hardware platforms supported: ppc, ppc64, arm, lpia and others.
    These binaries can be checked out from corresponding UGENE pages:
    page for Ubuntu and page for Fedora.
  • Latest Ubuntu builds are available from our PPA.
  • Fedora packages are published for three currently supported fedora versions: 10, 11 and 12
    These binaries can be fetched from UGENE page or using rpmfind

Source code

The source distribution can be used to build UGENE
on any platform with Qt4.5 and zlib-dev (Linux only) development packages installed.
On SUSE Linux you may also need libQtWebKit-devel package.

Source distribution includes installer scripts for Windows (NSIS2),
Linux (Ubuntu and Fedora) and MacOS X.

The source code of UGENE is distributed under the terms of GPLv2.
